UAMS-Campus Arc Flash Study

Most electrical systems have to account for arc faults, a type of electrical explosion or discharge. The heat and light produced during an arc fault is called an arc flash, which can have very devastating effects on an electrical system. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences was seeking more information on how their electrical systems would be impacted should an arc fault occur. The main campus of UAMS got a full service analysis that consisted of data collection, Single Line Modeling, Engineering Analysis, Training and Hazard Labeling of the electrical system from service entrance down to the distribution panel level, and single line diagrams of the as-built conditions of the electrical system.
