Howard County Jail Correctional - (Back to Menu)

Howard County Jail
Nashville, AR

The 13,650 SF jail is adjacent to the existing County/City Administration Building Howard County Jailwith public access from the north. The Sheriff’s offices have separate access from the south where the vehicle sally port is located. Designed to house 47, the jail is expandable to 79 beds. The design concept centers around a central control station. This station and the control officer are elevated 30” above the main floor area and have direct visual contact with most of the dorms and cell pods. All cell doors and the perimeter are electronically controlled and monitored from this station. This control station also has direct visual contact down the service support corridor to the dispatch officer. The design allows for minimum officer accompaniment for prisoners moving to outdoor exercise or visitation areas. The booking operation and the Sheriff’s Office are outside of the primary security perimeter. The location of the Sheriffs Department aids staffing levels by providing dual functions such as dispatch / jail control. The core facilities are designed to support expansion of the pod dayrooms and additional cells.
