The existing bathroom facility was a wood framed structure with insufficient fixtures and septic field for current use. The building had been submerged twice in two years by flooding. The new building design was based on a dog trot for covered access to the restrooms and to provide a protected area for vending. Each side of the dog trot entry has roll down security gates. The building also provides some additional storage space. Electrical and HVAC equipment are located above the flood plain elevation. The design incorporates walks and drinking fountains for both people and pets. The fountains include bottle-filling stations to reduce consumption of plastics.
