"If I were defined by an object, it would be my hard hat because I am safety conscious, dependable, hard headed, and a protector. I like to build things and be out in the field, but I'll never be stylish. It's what's on the inside that counts!"

What excites you about your work?

In our industry, we talk a lot about "low hanging fruit" — simple oversights that were made either in design, construction or just poor maintenance that seem to plague every commercial building no matter what the field and it wastes a massive amount of energy on an epidemic scale. As a mechanical engineer, I just can’t stand to see a system or piece of equipment running poorly.

What is the most out-of-the-box task you do at work?

Look for the answers to other people's questions I've overheard. Usually they haven't asked me to help them and sometimes they didn't really need my help either.

Between being invisible or being able to fly, which would you choose and why?

Without hesitation — flying. Besides, we've all been invisible before. It's called Jr. High school.

What was the last picture you took with your phone?

A 180-degree panoramic view of the Arkansas River valley from the north brow of Petit Jean mountain looking north. The sunset backlit a line of thunderstorms with blue sky behind them.

What was your first job?

Packing boxes at the Candy Bouquet warehouse.

What was your first concert?

M.C. Hammer. My Dad and I still can't hear properly.

What word best describes you?

What is your favorite local place to take visiting friends or relatives?

The Buffalo River

What is your most unusual possession?

Half of the parts and plans needed to build a 5-horsepower steam engine.
