Fort Bragg Fernandez Child Development Center

The purpose of this study was to prepare a Building Assessment Report analyzing the current conditions and deficiencies of the Fernandez Child Development Center (Building 1-6067) and assigning associated cost necessary to bring the facility into compliance with current standards and user requirements.

The Cromwell team spent 2 days on site inspecting the building, the site surrounding the building, and the supporting structures.  This investigation included extensive photography of the site, including existing site improvements as well as the exterior and interior of the building.  An investigation was also made into the structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems to determine their viability for safe future reuse.

The Building Assessment Report addressed the following issues:

  • Verification of the existing square footage of the building with the Army Design Standard
  • Assessment of the facility's ability fo meet current operational needs and the ability to continue to do so for the foreseeable future
  • Review of the facility for conformance with applicable building codes and standards
  • Provide recommendations for equipment and system upgrades, replacements, additions or repairs, including description of each recommendation and supporting information that explains why recommended
  • An estimate of cost associated with each recommendation
