Several years ago, Cromwell partnered with the Nelson architectural group to complete a campus wide facility condition assessment. As a result of the study’s findings related to energy use, the university signed a 19 million dollar contract through the Arkansas Energy Performance Contracting Program with Performance Services to renovate lighting, water, building envelope, HVAC, and controls across the campus to reduce energy costs and usage. The retrofit will take about 19 years to complete but it will reduce the campus' energy usage by 32%. Additionally, the campus’ chilled water loop will be optimized and re-engineered for maximum efficiency. The keystone of the project is a 321 KwH photovoltaic solar array that will rank as the largest public solar installation in Arkansas once completed. Cromwell will be overseeing the renovation on behalf of the University.
